Hello all!
We are alive I promise! It was a loonngg travel day!
It began with packing everything up and the usual surface cleaning. We were down to the wire and needed to print our boarding pass (required by Ryanair BEFORE you get to the airport) so at 4 pm we set out to print.. but Bronte and I couldn't find the place we found online that was near the house so we went back and regrouped. This time the boys went with us and we searched another place that was just up the street. Just our luck it was a copies only place, but Bronte and I begged so they let us back into the office where the lady working on her email let us log in to ours super quickly to print! We got very lucky!
We paid them a little extra for the copies than they asked for since they were nice! We were going to get pizza from the place next door but it closed by the time we got out of the copy shop. It was just the boys' luck since Bronte and I agreed to get Dominos! We walked near the train station where Dominos was and all got our own medium pizza. Joe, Bronte and I got pepperoni, and Tanner got barbecue with stuffed crust! Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs!
We strutted home, each with a pizza box in hand! There was a group of little soccer players kicking a small ball down the back walk, it was super cute! We were in a rush though, we only had an hour to finish walking back, eat, finish packing, take the trash out, AND walk back to the train station, get a ticket, and find the correct platform. Except we are pros at that now! We were successful! It was a quick two stops on the first train from Badalona to the Clot station. From the Clor station we took a train that was supposed to be about 30 minutes to the Barcelona El Prat airport, but got stopped waiting on the tracks for a different train to move and took about an hour instead. That was okay since we left enough time for that situation (I know.. adulting for once!) At least the airport wasn't too full at 8:00pm. We checked in and took our bags to a special bag drop off since there were too many straps on our backpacks for the smaller bag drop. We were really only allowed a 15 Kg checked bag.. mine was 16Kg (35 pounds) but I rested it just so on the scale so that it leaned against the wall and only read 11 Kg (winning) and it passed!
We did the usual! Walked through security, and got to our gate and bought some water!
The flight wasn't bad, 2 hour and 10 minute flight time! Joe and Tanner were in row 15 and Bronte and I in row 19! We only had to wait at the gate for about 45 minutes (longer than we would have but the flight way delayed since the one coming in was late!)
They made the time up in the air though! We tried to sleep but thats always easy on planes.. haha! Off the plane we got lucky that our bags came out first (first for that!)
We landed at Terminal 1 but researched that Terminal 2 was a newer portion of the airport, with more heating and benches. And my parents would be coming in to that terminal the next morning! We walked the terminal and found a long booth bench to post up on! Tanner spotted a McDonalds across the highway and the boys made the first trek over there! (always in pairs of two!)
They came back and a security guard came around. We were so worried he was going to kick us out and that we would have to pay for the airport hotel (that would have been 300 euro for on night, no thanks!)
He was just making sure we weren't stranded! (i mean... we kind of were but not in a bad way!) Tanner just calmly explained that we just got in on a flight and that we were going to hang out until our parents came the next morning. He left us alone after that! Bronte and I then walked over to McDonalds (the only thing open at 1:00am unless we wanted candy from the only other place open.) We both had chicken sandwiches! We were able to message and snapchat the other crew on the way! (Mom, dad, and Leah.) The walk back was pretty cold so we were glad to be back in the airport! Bronte, Joe and I were the first to sleep, all sprawled out on the bench. and Tanner had the first watch! he stayed awake for a while, but eventually Bronte took the next watch on bags and Tanner got to sleep for a bit!
Checked the airport sleeping box, don't need to do that again!
-Payton, on behalf of Bronte, Joe, and Tanner!
Love you all!
