We were going to go into Poble Espanyol on our bike tour day, but it was 12 euro a person to get in plus we needed lunch, so that was a little out of the budget. BUT after 8:00pm the ticket price went back down to 7 euro a person, so we decided to leave it for today. writing this blog a couple days late so it will be a little short!
We woke up slow, Bronte and I crammed some last bits of homework in, and hung out for a while. At around 4 we started getting ready to go into Barcelona one more time! We took the metro to the Espanya station, near the two towers and large Barcelona mall. We walked through the towers and past the museum. It was definitely dark (it gets dark around 5:30 here) so we tried our best to find the Olympic stadium! Bronte saw the public art piece in the picture above and said "that looks pretty torch-ey, let's go towards that! Sure enough, she was right! (of course, uphill, the boys' favorite!)
It was breathtaking! The grounds looked over various old practice fields that had rugby placers practicing in the stadium lights. The lit pathway with waterfalls and such was perfect to walk through! The large main stadium was huge!
The stadium was build a whole 56 years before it was used.. Barcelona was supposed to hold the games around 1910 but ended up losing but had everything built anyway... crazy for something so large to just sit there!
We took some pictures and enjoyed the view!
Back toward Poble, we were all ready to go in, it is a small walled in city, the only true one left on the hill from the indigenous people that lived there before it was all torn down for tourism and the stadium. We soon learned why the entry charge was a lot cheaper. The hustle bustle of people at dinner and kids playing in the courtyard and lit up walkways we had in our minds for the small walled in city was not the case... it only had one restaurant still open by 8:00pm so we decided to not pay to go in.. and just took a peek inside from the main gate, it was super cute!
That was bust, o well though there was plenty of other things!
We were getting hungry so we headed back to the mall that was back through the two towers. The rooftop had a bunch of restaurants looking out over Barcelona; we walked around and found a place that offered homemade open face burgers with goat cheese on the top. Bronte and I shared that along with one last seafood paella. Tanner got the burger and Joe got steak medallions with a really good wine reduction!
After dinner we were going to look for new boots for me since I have now rubbed a hole in them, but during the time we were at dinner all of the shops closed down so that was also a bust! One more day with holes in my boots it is!
After dinner we had a bit before we could get in to the club called Razzmatazz, so we hung out on a bench people watching! We then took the metro over to a different part of town and walked around and found Razz. It was supposed to be a big deal, but it wasn't tourist season and it was just stating to cool down in Barcelona so not many people were out and about. We had prepaid tickets so we went in anyway!
It was a general dance floor with bar and outside terrace. We hung outside for most of it and got our one drink each that came with out ticket we got online! We hung out outside for a while and talked to a few more people, a few exchange students! It was a good time! We didn't stay too long since we had a big day the next day. Back outside, we wandered the streets for the bus stop that Bronte said would get us home! The metros stop at midnight on Thursdays so that wasn't an option to get home! The bus ran till 5am so we were good to take that! We took a shot in the dark, a common theme with us, and jumped on the bus that online said would get us home! It did :) Back at home we hung out a little but headed for bed! It was a good, pretty mellow night in Barcelona!
